Indian arm of German Automaker Volkswagen is all set to introduce the upper level variant of Volkwagen Polo in the Indian market. The upper level variant of Volkwagen Polo is named as, “Volkswagen Polo GT” which will be spotted with some high power and some new cosmetic changes in the overall body.
With the change in it’s technical specifications and cosmetic uplifts company is aiming to increase it’s sales among those who prefer peppy and responsive ride. Under the hood, Volkswagen Polo GT would be powered by 1.2 litre, 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine. This 1.2 litre TSI motor will churns out an impressive peak power output of 105 bhp along with a highest torque delivery of 175 Nm. To make this new Polo GT power A-class product, it can be expected to come a cutting edge of 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission system. As reported by the company, this newly powered 1.2 TSI turbo petrol motor would deliver better mileage performance than the 1.6 litre engine used in the previous model and specifying it’s mileage in numbers the new Polo returns an impressive mileage of 17.2 km/l as per ARAI test standards. In terms of it’s performance, this new Polo GT power hatch touches 0- 100 km/hr in just 9.7 seconds with a top speed of 190 km/hr.
Enumerating it’s Safety measures, company has equipped ABS, ESP, Hill Hold, Dual Airbags, Electronic Immobilizer in it’s power hatch back so as to make the life completely secure of all the passengers. Briefing the uplifts in it’s exteriors and interiors, Volkswagen Polo GT houses very sublime changes, a GT badge is fixed on the front grille, on it’s rear right it carries a TST singage, a new set of Estrada alloy wheels. Also, this new Polo variant gets, “GT TSI” stickers on each C-pillar.
Specifying it’s Interiors, we all are very much familiar about the build quality of this German manufacturer which is always the strong point of the company and the same they have embedded in the new Polo GT TSI, the two tone dashboard theme is carried forward from the regular 1.2 model. This new powerful version gets ‘GT TSI’ branded scuff plates on the doors with the new DSG gearbox. It also gets a more sporty ‘Milan’ Tianschwarz fabric upholstery. Besides, these changes all the stuff are same as you can see in the old variant.
Volkswagen Polo GT will face a tough competition on in its arrival in the automobile industry of India as Fiat Grande Punto Sport, Toyota Etios Liva TRD and the Tata Indica Vista D90 are already in the line up and to make the competition even more tougher for Polo GT on Indian turf. However, there is no information made available by the company regarding it’s pricing but we can expect it’s price more than 6 lakh.
