Tata Motors, biggest automobile manufacturer in Indian auto industry has revealed its plan to offer Safari Dicor only in LX and EX variant. Tata Safari DiCOR was previously available in 5 variants, which included the LX, EX, GX and VX two-wheel drive versions and the VX 4×4.
The Tata Safari DiCOR LX is available with power steering, power windows and air-conditioning. Apart from these features, Dicor boasts of several comfort advancements which adds the segment of convenience and luxury list of passengers. It features central locking system, power windows, height adjustable power steering, and electronically adjustable driver seat along with rear wiper. However, it was heard that Tata Motors were planning to marks a rationalization of the Safari range to prevent the earlier Safari, which continues to be sold, from cannibalizing sales from the new Safari Storme. It must be noted that the engine incorporated within Safari DiCOR and Safari Storme is different, though the power and engine capacity are same. Apart fron the LX variant, the EX adds a rear roof-mounted AC, music system, fog lamps, rear defogger, remote central locking, height adjustable driver’s seat and an engine immobilisers.
From the Sources, we came to know that in the last financial year, Tata Motors sold nearly about 16,000 units of Safari Dicor’s all over India, and the company is confident that with the market introduction of the new Storme, the Safari range should display robust growth. It is a valid strategy from the country’s third-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, and the market should provide a clear indication of how well this strategy is working within a few months.
However, the price of Safari Dicro LX variant has been maintained around Rs. 8.3 lakhs, whereas EX is sold for close to Rs. 9.5 lakhs. On the other hand, the base model of Safari Storme is placed around Rs. 10 lakhs, which acts a barricade from cannibalising the sales of both the Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).
