Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, one of the biggest mammoth in automobile industry has launched two new products in it’s premium 110 CC segment as, “Mahindra Pantero and Centuro” in the Indian market. The nomenclature carries forward Mahindra groups saga of vehicle names ending with an ‘O’. As Bikes are named with Centuro and the Pantero.
Mahindra Pantero and Centuro are powered up with the same specifications but are placed at a certain difference between the sub-segments that have been created within the 100cc segment. Both the bikes are powered by a 110cc MCi-5 (Micro Chip Ignited 5-Curve) engine which will be capable of ejecting 8.6PS of power at 7,500rpm. Both the bikes boasts up with some awe-inspiring styling and measurements. Some of the key highlights include LED pilot and tail lamps which is quite new to see in any commuter motorcycle falling under it’s range, a fully digital instrument cluster with a digital tachometer and choke on the handle bar resembles a touch point towards it’s styling. The digital instrument cluster features a speedometer, fuel gauge, trip meter and clock bloom up the display. In terms of Dimensions, the bike also has a high ground clearance of 165mm and a seat that measures 774mm in length, which company member claims to be the longest in its class. Mahindra Pantero claims to deliver world-class mileage of 79.5 kmpl under ARAI.
“Pantero should be out in the next couple of weeks and Centuro a few weeks thereafter,” said Anoop Mathur, president, two wheeler sector and member of the group executive board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Mathur, however, did not disclose the prices.

Designed completely in-house at the Mahindra R&D Centre in Pune and powered by the MCi-5 engine manufactured at the company’s Pithampur facility in Madhya Pradesh, the motorcycle models possess intelligent and class-defining features targeted at distinct consumer segments, the company said.
The company has invested Rs 100 crore in the research and development of the products but “it is difficult to give total investment in product development as there is a lot of common platform sharing”, Mathur said.
Despite all the Specification, Centuro only weighs just half a kilogram more than Pantero at 111kgs. However, Centuro is 31mm longer and 61mm higher than Pantero. Centuro also has a 5mm lower saddle height at 800mm and a higher ground clearance. Both the bikes will be launched in four variants starting from the base to the most top end variant :T-1 (Self Start/Cast Alloy Wheels/ Digital Console), T-2 (Self Start/ Cast Alloy Wheels/ Analog Console), T-3 (Kick Start/ Cast Alloy Wheels/ Analog Console) and T-4 (Kick Start/ Spoke/ Analog Console).
To attract the attention of buyers, Mahindra also made these bike available in four colors: fiery red, sterling silver. Company has still not announced the pricing tag for all it’s four variants yet but we expect it to be competitively priced in the region of Rs 44,000 and 49,000.
